FIT4FOOD2030 Knowledge Hub

The FIT4FOOD2020 Knowledge Hub is a growing repository of tools and guidelines developed to facilitate future-proofing Europe’s food systems through responsible research and innovation (RRI) and the systems approach. The tools and guidelines were developed by the EU-funded project FIT4FOOD2030 and have the  objectives of strengthening R&I policy coherence and alignment, building competencies and empowering current and future researchers, entrepreneurs, policy-makers and society at large, while also raising awareness of the systems approach to food system transformation.

The tools for transformation found on this Knowledge Hub are based on experiences gained within the FIT4FOOD2030 project. They are available to use and download for all. The tools provide a mixture of tools and guidelines in different formats for online and in-person interactions and cover a wide range of topics: 

  • Setting up and shaping communities, networks, platforms, or so-called labs with relevant stakeholders for facilitating food system transformation in a local, national or European context
  • Developing and enhancing food (R&I) policy alignment to realise food system transformation
  • Utilising training modules for students and professionals on food system science and innovation with a multi-stakeholder approach
  • Analysing food system trends, best practices (showcases) and breakthroughs

What do the types of tools mean?

The tools for transformation are categoriesed in five types of tools:

Educational modules for students

Modules aimed at students, university students and families

Training and reflection modules for professionals and stakeholders

Guidelines designed to stimulate learning and reflection to support food system transformation

Short exercises for collaborative deliberation/reflection and co-creation

Stand-alone shorter exercises that are also part of larger educational or training and reflection modules and reports.

Data sets and related materials

Data sets collected on trends, showcases, breakthroughs and food policies.

Communication tools

Videos, webinars, policy briefs about the FIT4FOOD2030 project, food systems approach and R&I for food system transformation.

How to use the Knowledge Hub

The tools for transformation on the Knowledge Hub are free to use and download. There are a few different access points to the tools:

  1. Use the all tools access button at the bottom of the page
  2. Use the four categories to tailor your search of tools based on how you would like to use the tools 
  3. Use the filter to search for tools based on the type of tool, target audience, keywords and categories

About FIT4FOOD2030

FIT4FOOD2030 is a three year project (2017-2020) funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 framework programme. The project supports and implements the European Commission’s FOOD 2030 policy framework through the creation of the FOOD 2030 Platform. This platform mobilises a wide variety of stakeholders from different sectors at the levels of cities, regions, countries and Europe. This platform will/has?:

  • Strengthen research and innovation (R&I) coherence and alignment
  • Build competences of current and future researchers, entrepreneurs, policy-makers and society 
  • Raise awareness of the FOOD 2030 policy framework and the general food-related challenges
  • Gain insight into trends, showcases and future breakthroughs with food systems through the lens of R&I
